Pay Scale

 

Rs. 67000-79000-/-(HAG) (Total emoluments excluding T.A., HRA at the time of initial appointment will be Rs. 67000/- plus DA as applicable)

Age

 

Not exceeding 50 years as on normal closing date. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central/U.T. Government Servant up to five years as per instructions/Orders issued by Govt. of India from time to time. Essential Qualificaiton (s)

 

EDUCATIONAL
Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or Mineral Engineering or Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering or Chemical Technology or Metallurgy from a recognized university, Institution or equivalent.
OR
Master’s Degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Ore Dressing or Chemistry or Physics from a recognized University or equivalent.

Note- Here word ‘Equivalent’ has been used for University and not for educational qualification.

EXPERIENCE 

 

Twenty one years experience in a Supervisory capacity in Mettalliferrous Mines or in Government Department dealing with Metalliferrous Mines.
Supervisory capacity means managing work or overseeing work in Metalliferous Mines or in Government Department dealing with Metalliferous Mines
OR
Twenty one years experience in guiding research in a laboratory or in a plant conducting Ore –Dressing or Mineral Beneficiation or Mineral Agglomeration work

Note - 1 Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the UPSC in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified.

Desirable Qualificaiton (s)

 

Post Graduate Degree in Mining Engineering or Post Graduate Degree in Mineral Engineering or Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering or Chemical Technology/Metallurgy or Doctorate Degree in Geology/Applied Geology/Ore Dressing/ Chemistry/ Physics.

Duty(ies)

 

Being Head of the Department, he is responsible for overall functioning of Indian Bureau of Mines in the administration of Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act 1957 and rules framed there under for scientific and systematic development of mining thereby ensuring conservation of minerals, protection of environment etc.

Probation

 

One year.

Head Quarter

 

Nagpur.

Other Details

 

General Central Service, Group ‘A, Gazetted (Non-Ministerial). The posts are permanent.
